MARCH INTO STYLE

imageg.jpg

COVID-19 or not, Spring is slowly approaching, which means that it’s time for a seasonable wardrobe switch. Given all that the entire world is going through, the least that those of us in the northern hemisphere can enjoy is warmer weather and styles. Dressing for spring can be a bit tricky, because the weather can be as fickle as it can be unpredictable.

Sunny days are to be expected, but depending on where you’re reading this from, the temperatures might not always be as balmy as you’d like. Meanwhile, those who enjoy an occasional cold snap won’t be too disappointed, because there’s still a little time to chill with the chill. Spring temps vary, which is why this is the perfect time to plan your spring wardrobe shifts as you prepare to March into Style!

Our “experts” wanted us to spend a little time reminding you about the importance of shopping a season or two ahead. Spring and summer lines are generally revealed in January, meanwhile fall and winter lines are typically revealed in July. Do your best to remember this because by the time this is released, you’ll already be behind. Don’t worry about being behind in your spring shopping, though. At least you’ll know when to start looking for the fall.

The only other thing we appreciate more than a mood is a vibe, and this spring is filled with them! Keep your eyes (and your wallets) peeled to this month’s utility trend, jackets, and denims. All are on the forefront of this spring’s list of considerations. Hopefully we’ve found a few that are certain to pique your style interests.

VEST TO IMPRESS | THE UTILITY TREND | BOOHOO

The utility trend is as much of a mood as it is a vibe. The utility trend isn’t seasonally bound to spring, so there’s no need to rush. The trend is multifaceted to say the least, but this month’s fave is the utility vest. Utility vests can range from simple to complex. We’ve had a long standing love of simplistic designs, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that our first feature is as simple as it is stylish. Spend a little time with the 4 Pocket Cotton Utility Vest from BOOHOO MEN. Simplicity is the key to making this stone colored vest work. You’ll find that the pockets pull most of the piece’s weight, so the most appropriate paining options will need to be as uncomplicated as possible.

Consider pairing your 4 Pocket Utility Vest with a strong and vibrant top. If that doesn’t suit your style then play with the idea of a fitted long or short sleeved tee as these are two of the best options when it comes to letting this vest shine. Shades of red, black (as pictured), blue, and yellow will give this piece the attention and respect it deserves. The utility vest is the perfect example of the stylish results that come when blending fashion and function, and what’s even better than that is the price! This piece retails for a smooth $19.80 (U.S.), and exists as one of many of the brands options.

A STRAIGHT JACKET | TEXTURED BOMBER JACKET | ZARA

imageg.jpg

The arrival of spring serves as a sigh of relief for those of us who can’t stand winter’s blistering cold. A lot of us get so caught up in the warming temperatures that we forget the importance of keeping a good jacket on deck. The need for a good spring jacket is regional, so none of the following will apply to those in the American west, south, or Hawaii. The rest of us know that spring is nothing more than a collection of chilly mornings and nights, which is why it’s always important to have a lightweight jacket on deck.

Zara’s Textured Bomber Jacket is light, which makes it great for traditionally chilly spring mornings and nights. Not only will this jacket serve as the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe, but you’ll find that its polyester make up makes it easy to care for too. The bomber’s elasticized cuffs are snug at the wrist and protect against unwanted drafts. Its high collar is more about style than it is function, so if you’re willing to make the sacrifice then you’ll certainly enjoy the effect. Your neck might not, but it’ll manage. The Textured Bomber comes with a tonal matching ribbed hem, and comes with the standard from zip closure. Including this jacket as one of our spring faves wasn’t hard, but what made it easier to include was its 15.99 (USD) price tag.

COLD SWEAT | BLACK ROLL NECK SWEATER | TOPMAN

image+%287%29.jpg

Our final spring fave is the Black Roll Neck Sweater from our buddies at Topman. Fans of classic fitted roll necks will enjoy this piece, it’s knitted style and simple upkeep as well. This sweater is one hundred percent cotton, which is perfect for spring! Cotton, much like eyelets, tropical wools and linens are absorbent and ensure that adequate amounts of air flow through the material to produce a fresher feeling on warmer days.

If you’ve been following us for a while then you know we appreciate all things black, but that doesn’t mean all things must be black. Such, we were super excited to find that this sweater comes in green, stone, charcoal gray, white, toffee, and khaki as well. Another good thing about this sweater is its price. The original price for all variations of this sweater ranged anywhere from $35.00(USD) to $45.00 (USD), however you’ll be excited to know that the price of this sweater in green has decreased to $18.00, and to $17.50 for those of you interested in the sweater’s khaki version. Spend a little time reviewing these cold sweats below!

The sometimes chaotic temperature changes in spring offer us one last opportunity to layer. We don’t have to layer as much as we did back in January, but the practice is still needed to defend ourselves against unexpected chills. Boo Hoo’s 4 Pocket Cotton Utility Vest should probably be a late spring consideration, as the best way to effect a simple spring layered look (in our very humble opinion) is to pair it with a short sleeved tee. Of course you’re more than welcome to play with some of your favorite long sleeved option, but...just be careful, Beaux. Be careful.

There are jackets for every season (and don’t you dare exclude summer jackets, because they are a thing!), and spring is no different. It will always be necessary for us to own a reliable spring jacket. Zara’s bomber made our list of faves because it checks all the boxes, like any appropriate spring jacket should. Its lightweight, stylish, and weather resistant, and it not only adds a little our overall look, but is durable as well!

And finally, since spring is a transitional season it’s uber important we have something that breathes, something that the air can transition through. Cotton, and other porous fabrics, don’t hold heat, which means that you’re less likely to break out into a sweat as the temperatures rise throughout the day. Topman’s assortment of roll neck sweaters serve as the perfect example of what you’ll need this spring, as it’s cotton construct allows wind to pass through it. Don’t misconstrue this, because the sweater’s thickness provides adequate shielding, but this doesn’t mean it doesn’t breathe. We’re still not sure how long COVID-19 is going to be around, but our hope is that things will be settled way before the warmer weather hits. In the meantime, our best option is going to be to prepare our wardrobes as much as possible as we March into style.
